Ishaan Chhabra is a composer and music producer based between Los Angeles and Mumbai.
A graduate in electronic music production and sound design from Berklee College of Music, Ishaan's work ranges from feature films and documentaries to branded commercials.
Ishaan's debut feature as composer, Children of War (2014), was released to critical success. He went on to compose Budhia Singh: Born to Run (2016), which won the National Award for Best Children's Film, and Hansal Mehta's Omertà (2017), which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. His work on HBO's Momentum Generation (2018) earned a Sports Emmy nomination for Best Music Direction, and he co-composed the Oscar-nominated documentary Writing With Fire (2021). He recently composed the score for 'Rice' episode of the Apple+ documentary Omnivore (2024).
In mainstream Hindi cinema, Ishaan scored the box-office hit Srikanth (2024), Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal (2020) and Aanand L. Rai’s Raksha Bandhan (2022). He composed for the series Scam 2003 (Sony) and Dhootha (Amazon Prime Video) in 2023. His commercial work includes clients like Intel, Hyundai, History Channel, Renault, Škoda, 7 Up and more.
In 2023, Ishaan produced the widely acclaimed Vintage Bollywood sample library for Splice. He was also a finalist for the Rolex Arts Initiative 2016-17, mentored by Philip Glass, and his score for Scam 2003 won Best Soundtrack at the Talentrack Awards 2023. As a sound designer for Boston based Sonivox, he created commercially successful virtual instruments and sample libraries.
Ishaan has also collaborated with Academy Award winning composer A.R. Rahman as music producer. His work with Mr. Rahman includes Disney’s Million Dollar Arm, Dreamworks’ The Hundred Foot Journey, Majid Majidi's Muhammad: The Messenger of God, Imagine Entertainment's Pelé: Birth of a Legend, Gurinder Chadha's Viceroy's House, and several Hindi and Tamil film projects including Highway, Mom, Kochadaiiyaan, OK Kanmani, Tamasha and Mohenjo Daro.
